MEMO Music Hall relives its Dance Hall days when the 16-piece MELBA BIG BAND, Australia’s only all-female Big Band, fills the room with vintage sounds from the 1920s and a dash of the 1970s on Saturday 27 July. The show is produced by St Kilda’s very own Justine Jones vocalist, composer, actress, and producer who plays saxophone with the band.

The MELBA BIG BAND was established in 2018 with five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets and a three-piece rhythm section. The members range in age from 19 to 65. The band has played sell-out shows at The Jazz Lab, 303, Dizzys, and Castlemaine and Mordialloc Festivals.

At MEMO they will be performing Big Band favourites such as L.O.V.E, Almost Like being in love , Basically Blues, Jive at Five, and Tequila, as well as the music of Count Basie, Neal Hefti, Chuck Rio, Bernie McGann, Gershwin and more! Join vocalist Katrina Buttegieg, Musical Director Emily Brice and the Melba Big Band for a night to remember at MEMO Music Hall.
