Knowing how hard it is to get the inspiration to lose the Covid Lockdown kilos MEMO Music Hall decided it was time to channel the all-inclusive fun of 80’s aerobics icon Richard Simmons for a Sunday afternoon of leisure-wear, lycra and livin’ it up with ‘Let’s Get Physical Live!’ Featuring Melbourne’s very own Richard Simmons, Chris Bakis as your aerobics instructor, and the 3XY All Star Band performing classic 80s aerobics hits live – it’s an afternoon of fun and frivolous fitness.
Get on your Reeboks, leg-warmers, headbands, your best Le Coq tracksuit and as much or as little Lycra you dare to bare and head to MEMO Music Hall for an hour of aerobic fun. Chris Bakis is one of Australia’s most experienced aerobics instructors, who describes himself as a “Richard Simmons devotee”. The 3XY Band features some of Melbourne’s best musicians who will be pumping out all the best of 80s aerobic hits for your enjoyment.
Let’s Get Physical Live! is for everyone who wants to bop, move, groove, and jive without risking a coronary. Oh yes, and did we mention, of course, the bar will be open if you need to rehydrate before, during or after.
Co-venue Manager Simon Myers said, “Richard Simmons was famous for his all-inclusive approach to fitness. His videos featured the fit and not-so fit having a great time just moving to music. That’s exactly the kind of vibe we’ll be creating here at MEMO. Fun, friends, and making new ones, whilst doing an aerobics class, and quite possibly with a drink in your hand. It’s a totally different way of experiencing live music in the local entertainment scene. One we are sure that will have broad appeal across the community.”
