For A Cause: Kim Kelaart Benefit

Eight-hours of live music from Melbourne’s best jazz, soul and blues performers will come together for the first time, in one place, at St Kilda’s Memo Music Hall, from 2pm, 30 September 2018.

In a one-off benefit for Australian, renowned, multi-instrumentalist, Kim Kelaart, greats such as Wilber Wilde, Jude Pearl and Jake Mason will share the stage with iconic bands, including The Putbacks, The Meltdown, The Shuffle Club and Paul Williamson’s Hammond Combo.

Organisers said anyone who loves live music in Melbourne should not miss this rare chance to enjoy so much of the city’s best talent performing together.

All proceeds will go to Kim Kelaart to help pay for cancer treatment.

Kim is a heavy-weight musician, who is much loved by musos across Melbourne and Australia. We’re proud to be putting on this great show for his benefit.

Punters will have enjoyed Kim Kelaart’s stoic soul repertoire in regular performances on the hammond or electric bass with the Paul Williamson’s Hammond Combo, Bob Valentine and the Providers, Continental Robert, Joe Chindamo, Stephen Magnusson, Julien Wilson, Gil Askey, and 2120.

It follows years touring and recording with artists such as Kate Ceberano, Human Nature, The John Dallimore band, Mr. Freedom X, Jet Girl, Cosmic Love Bus and, more recently, with legendary sax player Dave Liebman (Miles Davis Band). He has also recorded a series of albums titled Live at Bernies, with his own band KNAG (pronounced nag), and arranged for film and theatre including the popular Australian TV series Saddle Club and for Katie Underwood (ex Bardot).

It is an impressive career spanning several decades that started on the piano at age three, and performing live at age seven.

The day will feature; The Putbacks, The Meltdown, Wilbur Wilde Quartet feat Micheal Jordan, Tim Neal & James Sherlock, Paul Williamson’s Hammond Combo, The Shuffle Club w/ Julie O’Hara, Jake Mason of Cookin On 3 Burners, Jude Perl & guests, Simon Phillips, Nick Karasavvidis and The Mighty Melbourne’s.
