MEMO Music Hall will feature 3 of Australia’s foremost Jazz Singers for a Special Mother’s Day celebration. Featuring NICHAUD FITZGIBBON, NINA FERRO and JULIE O’HARA accompanied by one of the hottest swinging quartets around with STEPHEN GRANT (piano), MARK ELTON (bass), CRAIG FERMANIS (guitar) and ANDREW SWANN (drums).

Nina Ferro is a multi award-winning vocalist, songwriter, session and recording artist whose powerful, evocative voice, stunning vocal range and captivating stage presence have earned her an enviable international reputation. With 8 solo albums to her credit, Nina has made guest appearances on ARIA award winning albums and appeared on TV, radio and in print media across the globe. Nina opened as the special guest artist for Tony Bennett, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Juanes and Grammy Award winning industry legends Gregory Porter, Charles Aznavour and Neil Sedaka. For over a decade Nina lived and performed in London, holding down a residency at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club performing over 80 shows and supporting jazz legends such as Chick Corea, Dave Sandborn, Jimmy Smith, Chris Botti, Jose Feliciano and many more. You can hear Nina’s vocal talents on Film & TV shows such as Dancing With The Stars, The Masked Singer, Australia’s Got Talent, X Factor, I Mother (Netflix). Not to mention wowing not only the judges but also Aussie audiences when she appeared on Season 5 of The Voice Australia (2016). Most recently, Nina blew audiences away with her portrayal as Judy Garland in the show ‘Judy Australia 1964’ performed under the Midsumma Festival Umbrella in Melbourne. Nina is one of the most sought after vocalists on the international circuit. Whether she’s swinging out a Jazz standard or belting out a soul ballad, there is no underestimating her unequaled talents!

Nichaud Fitzgibbon is one of Australia’s favourite jazz stylists. She is a natural, charismatic performer who has been delighting Melbourne audiences for years. Hailing from the famous Fitzgibbon family, her musical pedigree spans 3 generations and she is regarded as Jazz royalty. Nichaud’s chameleon ways, natural charisma and feisty elegance brings sophistication to performances offering a repertoire of popular jazz standards from the Great American Songbook. She is renowned for her exquisite ballad singing, her love of Bossa Nova and her ability to belt out a raunchy hot Blues. Her sound is sultry and warm and she always leaves you wanting more. Highlights include stellar performances for The Thredbo Jazz Festival, a sell out performance for Melbourne International Jazz Festival, “Fever- A Tribute to Miss Peggy Lee” The Great American Songbook Series at The Recital Centre, celebrating 50 years of Bond & Bollinger, The Commemorative Gala Ball in Darwin, starring with James Morrison for his Tribute to Australian Swing for Melbourne International Jazz Festival, The Smacka Fitzgibbon Tribute for The Stonnington Jazz Festival and A Tribute to The American Song Book with The Syncopators for Morning Melodies at The Victorian Arts Center.

Julie O’Hara is a jazz vocalist, composer and educator from Melbourne who has been contributing to the music scene for over thirty years. Julie’s musical projects have vocal improvisation as an essential element to her arranging, with O’Hara using her voice as a section player, soloist and lyricist. With a fascination for improvising and scat singing, Julie was drawn to writing vocalese lyrics to solos by the jazz masters, particularly horn players from the 40’s and 50’s and continues to write vocalese today.
Award winning songwriter, Julie composes across many genres having spent years freelancing in various musical scenes in Australia, including, Big bands, R&B swing/jump blues, New Orleans trad jazz, contemporary jazz, gypsy swing, Bluegrass, Brazilian, electro-house & hip hop. Julie has regularly toured Europe, Asia and Australia, playing at jazz and music festivals or performing as a guest vocalist, (The Cat Empire, Hoodangers, The Pearly Shells, Mistaken Identity). Although Julie performs predominantly jazz music, she also writes for pop, bluegrass, hip hop, R&B, neo soul, country and EDM. Julie features on over thirty recordings, including Aria award winning album, ‘Cities’ by The Cat Empire and ‘Midnight Sun’ with George Washingmachine (nominated for a Bell Award for best jazz vocal album). Julie has won numerous song writing awards for jazz, contemporary pop and EDM. Julie O’Hara will be releasing a new contemporary jazz album in 2023.
