Having grown up on the Mornington Peninsula, blues/folk singer-songwriter Simon Imrei spent his childhood listening to his parents’ record collection which paired the storytelling of Paul Simon and James Taylor with the bluesy guitar playing of Jimi Hendrix and Santana. It wasn’t until a family Christmas watching his uncle play Buddy Rich rudiments on his drum kit that Simon discovered his love for rhythm. This underlying aspect of movement and groove has underpinned his guitar playing and songwriting ever since.
Over the last 15yrs, Simon has been busy touring with the likes of THE BASICS and LACHLAN BRYAN & THE WILDES, but more recently has passionately focused his energy on his own material, releasing two EP’s and two full-length albums. In 2019, Simon returns with the ‘Older EP’, a follow up to the 2018 double-disc album, ‘The Sum of Scenes’.
Catch Simon’s mix of blues/soul and folk-inspired storytelling, looped beats, layered riffs and lush harmonies as he launches the new EP ahead of an extensive regional Victorian tour.
